SELLERSBURG, IN (WAVE) - A 28-year-old Jeffersonville man is wanted by police for allegedly molesting two teenage girls. They are now turning to WAVE 3 for help. Investigators say the man once served as a youth volunteer at a local church and that is where he met his victims. WAVE 3's Scott Harvey talked to prosecutors.
Scott Grose is already on the sex offender registry, but new charges have been filed and police need your help finding him. In February 2008, Grose pleaded guilty to asking a 13 year old girl to perform oral sex over the internet.
"The dad walked in while the daughter was on MySpace and saw what he had asked," said Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Shelley Marble.
Because he had no previous record, Grose got six years probation and a spot on the Indiana Sex Offender Registry. At the time, he was a youth volunteer at the First Baptist Church in Sellersburg. Church officials told me once they found out about the charges against Grose, he was immediately banned from having any involvement with kids.
"I think he positioned himself to be near the kids," said Marble. Now two more girls, ages 13 and 14, have come forward claiming Grose didn't ask, but forced them to perform sexual acts.
"Church is supposed to be safe and it wasn't for these girls," said Marble.
According to the Probable Cause Affidavit filed in Clark Superior Court, during youth events at the church Grose played hide-and-seek with the girls.
"He would hide with one of them in the basement and abuse her," said Marble.
Investigators say Grose was also a chaperone for church trips to the movies. In the court documents, one of the girls told police during a movie Grose slid his hand inside her pants.
"I think the most disturbing thing is that he manipulated the girls knowing that he was trusted by the parents," Marble says.
According to Marble, Grose never threatened the girls, just made them feel guilty.
"He told them that if you don't do what I want, I will make you get home late and you will be grounded," she said.
According to court documents, one of the victims told police that Grose had a list of all the girls he has made out with, one's he wanted to make out with and he was even thinking about their futures together.
"He had plans for all of these girls," Marble said. "One victim was his three year plan and that is when she would be old enough to date him. The other was a four year plan and another was a five year plan."
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Scott Grose, you are asked to call the Sellersburg Police Department at (812) 246-4491.
